It’s been awhile since I’ve been out to the farm. Life has been too hectic here in Newcastle. I miss being out there.

Of course, my family is out there a lot to take care of things. They say things are grown up a lot. I do think next year I will have to rethink how I plant the wildflower bed or maybe even move it. It seems strange, but tilling the ground before planting there seems to be the wrong thing to do as it lets the weeds grow like crazy.

I am doing some gardening in Newcastle. I’m borrowing a bit of earth from my parent’s at their place, so I’m building up some raised beds, using concrete blocks for the borders. Hopefully I should get some good results since they have killer compost and the location is perfect for a fall garden with its sheltered southerly location next to the house.

On another note, if you are interested in the future of Western Oklahoma and particularly sustainable agriculture and economics, I would recommend you check out the The Green Party of Southwestern Oklahoma.
