I think this was the right thing to do from an accountability standpoint, but I also still feel a little sorry for the guy too. I can’t imagine having that kind of responsibility. Reading that article (particularly the part about what he plans to do when he comes home) really humanizes someone who I didn’t feel very good about before this.
I guess this is the problem with blaming people. On one side, you do need accountability for those who err (and hurt others in the process) but at the same time we all do make mistakes and it is so easy to focus on the mistakes of others (while letting your own self off the hook).
