Mennonite Weekly Review: Support for Amish in wake of shooting tragedy – by Robert Rhodes

. . . MCC and MDS have established the Amish School Recovery Fund. Donations may be made by mail to either agency (MDS, 1018 Main St., Akron, PA 17501; MCC, 21 S. 12th St., P.O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501); by calling MCC at 717-859-1151 or MDS at 717-859-2210; or online at www.mcc.org or www.mds.mennonite.net.

Two funds, including one for the wife and three children of the gunman, have been established by a bank in Paradise where many Amish do business.

Coatesville Savings Bank has established the Nickel Mines Children’s Fund and the Roberts Family Fund. The bank can be contacted at 717-886-8800.

What a beautiful thing that this bank and the Amish are doing, in recognizing the deep need for love and support that the family of the shooter must have. It is one of the best examples I’ve ever seen of loving your enemy that I’ve ever seen, and I can’t help but feel encouraged by seeing this kind of love in response to such evil.
