Two of the best choices I found for good low-carb eating downtown are…

  • Markie’s Deli (612 N. Robinson) – has a great low-carb plate (not on the menu, but they know what it is) where you get roast philly-steak style beef with melted cheese on top and salad with lots of cheese on top. The only problem is that they sometimes forget to leave the croutons off the salad.
  • Johnny’s Lunch Box (413 W. Sheridan, next to the Greyhound station) – a fabulous old cafeteria-style lunch counter. I ate there today and had a huge serving of moist roast beef, super-fresh green beans, and a good sized-salad for around $5-6.
