MSNBC: Troops mass on Colombia’s borders — Leaders of Ecuador, Venezuela warn action against rebels could bring war
Very scary news. This probably will not get the coverage it deserves. As I understand it, the US-backed Columbian government has attacked a FARC contingency in neighboring Ecuador, and now Venezuela and Ecuador are moving troops to their respective borders with Columbia in response.
The situation doesn’t look good. I can’t blame Venezuela and Ecuador for their responses, but it seems like it is setting up a scenario where a war might break out, and worse yet, it is a war in which the US may very easily be entangled in. I hope and pray that cooler heads will prevail, and definitely will be praying for the work of CPT in Columbia as maybe they can help to bring about a bettter outcome than looks possible right now.
Very good news. It looks like war is averted…
