Lots of stuff is going on at my end in my personal life. I’ve been super-swamped with work lately (mostly with my military cases), but also have been trying to improve my general health and fitness and lose some weight.

So what I’m doing is changing my diet and activity levels. On the diet, I’m going back to a low-carb diet. I’m going this route because I’ve had really good luck with low-carb dieting in the past (I lost about 25 pounds doing Atkins back in 2003) and because I generally felt better and had more energy when I was eating low-carb.

I am doing some things differently though. The Atkins diet starts with a super-low induction period of 2 weeks at 20-25 net grams of carbs per day, but I’ve decided to go with 35 net grams so that I can eat more fruit from the get go and also enjoy a beer a few times a week. I’m also going to try to not eat as many processed high-fat meats (i.e. bacon, sausage, etc.) as I did last time, and really work on boosting my vegetable consumption as high as possible.

As for the fitness goals, I’m going to start driving the pedicab again (I quit back in September — I just needed some time away from the Bricktown scene), probably on Friday nights. I’m also doing Yoga on Saturdays, and am doing a mix of aerobic (mostly on the bike machines) and weights at the YMCA 2-3 times per week.

Anyway we’ll see how it goes, but I’m hoping to take off quite a bit of weight over the next few months and improve my general health and energy levels.
